Fruits of our labor . . .

My Monday morning . . .  A garden is hard work, but the rewards . . . . wow, I am so grateful!
You honestly can't get any better or healthier than this!
This morning was tomatoe sauce day!  I have been flinging bags of tomatoes into the freezer , we were running out of freezer space.
This all actually started with the planting of our garlic last fall!  We grew EVERY element that is in this sauce . . . from the tomatoes, onions & red peppers to the garlic and oregano. I use red peppers in my sauce . . . as they give a depth of flavor and a richness that is amazing!   The house smells so wonderful as the sauce is cooking right now!
This evening?  Eggplant Parmesean..... YEP, we grew the eggplant too!  :-)

Have a happy day!

((what time is dinner?)) don't you love growing/harvesting/cooking your own food Lori? it is a simple pleasure that we can all benefit from, and Mother Earth loves us for it!
Enjoy your dinner ~

Our tomatoes are just beginning to ripen. We haven't had a truly hot summer, until the past two weeks that is. You might like to look at the photo I posted on my blog. We went to a tomato tasting at Roger's Gardens. This year I think we will only can tomato sauce, we still have canned tomatoes from the past two years. Didn't plant as many this year on purpose! Your harvest looks amazing!

Tomatoe sauce time is great. I find the smell permeates the house for at least 2 or 3 days.
