Simply Christmas 2 . . .

For our Furry Friends . . .
Yesterday was "dog biscuit" baking day here at our house.
A tradition of long . . . LONG . . . standing!
(I started this in high school if that tells you anything,
I even sold dog biscuits at craft shows in the 70's!)
Each year we bake homemade treats for all our furry dog friends.
I know there are fancier recipes, but we stick with an old favorite.
Dog tested ~ Dog approved!
Our dear furry friends care more about the contents than the wrapping,
but it makes for a pretty picture!
An old Steiff puppy supervises the rolling, cutting and baking!
Lacy Lu's Favorite Treats:
2 C - whole wheat flour
1 C - yellow or white cornmeal
1/4 C wheat germ
1/2 t. garlic powder

1 large egg
1 T. olive or canola oil
1C hot organic vegetable, chicken or beef broth
(we used vegetable broth this time)

Mix dry ingredients.
Beat egg, oil and broth well. Add mixture to dry ingredients,
stir until a dough forms.
Roll dough out on a floured or corn-mealed board to between 1/8" & 1/4" thickness.
Cut out shapes with cutters of your choice.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 350 degree oven
for 20 -25 minutes or until hard.
Let stand overnight to dry thoroughly.
Let your friends enjoy!

Happy "Wooffy" Christmas
