The Studio . . . Day 4

hello!
We made some good progress today and I'm learning to use
some new tools, like a nail gun! Quite different from a sewing machine.
Bless husband  . .  he is so patient with me!
Before this re-do my closet had big shelves, and ugly wire shelf and a pair of brown curtains,
I didn't love it but it was better than trying to shove the doors back and forth to reach supplies.
This time I decided that even the curtains should go. Having the closet fully open
makes the small room that is my studio look and feel much larger!
I'm big on re-using and re-purposing when possible and these big ole
shelves have been with me almost as long as I've been in business.
They have been arranged many ways and painted a few colors, tho they aren't
fine furniture, they are nice deep storage.
So . . .  we painted them again, stacked 3 high on the left and the single on the right
we topped with a "bread board" style desk top, we added a simple trim to all the fronts
for a nice finish . . .  that was the nail gun part!
This is now my "Sewing Pantry", inspired by an antique "Buttery".
I'm still thinking a bit about the open space over the desk,
my wire racks of ribbons would fit nicely, so would more shelves.
But . . . that's a decision for another day!
Tomorrow is Paint The Walls Day!
Many little holes have been spackled and I'm all ready to begin.
Well . . .  after I unload that big yellow cabinet so we can get to the wall behind it!
Big shelf units

The Sewing Pantry
Paint still drying . . .  Another flat surface to clutter up :-)
For some reason I kinda like these two cupboards sitting side by side, I haven't made a final floor plan yet,
but for now they look like big brother and little sister.
If you are where the winter is acting wicked . . .  Stay safe & warm!
We are about 15 below tonite!

I love the progress Lori. I think your work station is great. I will be interested to see what you will do with the cupboards.

We reuse a lot too...Phil built an entertainment center for us a while back...now it makes good storage in the studio.

Love the cupboards... more like two sisters to me the blonde and the redhead...
The cupboard will be great.
Cold here too, -40 C with the windchill. And it doesn't matter how you convert that it is COLD!
Stay warm too.

It's great having a husband who can build things and remodel things. I am lucky that way, too.

I love reading your blog!
Thanks for sharing.
