Christmas Traditions . . .

I love Christmas traditions.
They make me feel connected to the spirit of the holiday
and those with whom I share them.
Some are old, some are new but all are close to my heart.
I'll share a few of my favorites with you over the next few days.
(Because these truly are traditions you may have seen them posted in years
past as well, if you are new to the blog . . .  enjoy! ).
~ ~ ~
I have baked dog biscuits since I was in college.
In those years I sold them at a local craft show.
One time I ran home mid show to bake a fresh batch.
They sold so quickly I couldn't bear some furry friends not having a present
under their tree!

Our own "dog biscuit" list grows each year!
Dogs of friends, dogs of family, dogs of friends of friends, neighborhood dogs,
dogs at Lacy's day care . . .  and so it goes and grows.
A jumbo batch has been baked, packaged and delivered just in time for Christmas morning!
(Lacy takes care of quality control and these earned a 2 paws up!)
If you'd like to begin a little tradition of your own our
recipe follows.

recipe follows.
Lacy Lu's Favorite Treats:
2 C - whole wheat flour
1 C - yellow or white cornmeal
1/4 C wheat germ (optional)
1/2 t. garlic powder

1 large egg
1 T. olive or canola oil
1C hot organic vegetable, chicken or beef broth
(we use vegetable or chicken broth )

Mix dry ingredients.
Beat egg, oil and broth well. Add mixture to dry ingredients,
stir until a dough forms.
Roll dough out on a floured or corn-mealed board to between 1/8" & 1/4" thickness.
Cut out shapes with cutters of your choice.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 350 degree oven
for 20 -25 minutes or until hard.
Let stand overnight to dry thoroughly.

Be Merry!
