The Clean Up Begins!

Everyone who has ever seen my studio has seen it in "clean mode". This is what you do when you are having company and your studio is in your home. (Well . . most of the time anyway!)

BUT . . . this is the true aftermath when I've been working furiously for a show. It gets to the point that even the dog has a hard time finding a place to lie down and stretch out. I keep thinking I can't work like this, I should clean up, but there is no time, so I keep working in chaos. But maybe too, that is what fuels the ideas . . who knows.

Then . . the show is over , the adrenalin drops and I look in and say . . . gads . . who made this mess in my studio??? As with "other happenings" in the house . . we blame it on the dog !

So . the clean up begins . . it's time to focus on orders and somehow I must to begin Halloween pieces right now as it will be a busy fall this year!!
Scarf 'round head, mop bucket in hand . . . I go into the depths to clean!!

OH . . and look . . . this poor little bunny got set on the floor behind me and I forgot to finish him! He is actually a soft denim blue with red ear linings and pads. He's about 12" to ear tips. If anyone is interested in him email me & I can finish him off to your liking!

He is now off to a new home!! Thank you!!!

Working still . . .

I am the great procrastinator !
No matter how much time I have to get ready for a deadline, I find myself up till the wee hours a few nights before.  It never fails!  I always say I'm going to "mend my ways"  . . . . but then I just don't!
It seems that inspiration does not hit until the pressure is on, then of course you have more ideas than it's possible bring to life unless you require no sleep at all.
Now . . In talking with many other creative people at least I know I am not alone !

So . .  hope to see you this evening at the webshow . . I'll try not to fall asleep on my keyboard!

Veggie Man Marathon . . .

The first harvest from the kitchen garden is in . . .  Sweet strawberries, a nice spicy Jalapeno, a couple of squash blossoms and a "Little Fingers" eggplant.

Now . . . a few  garden confessions" , 3 of the smaller strawberries are from the new patch, but the nicest ones are from the ones I planted last year.  The eggplant . . I bought a very nice sized plant so we could have a little immediate gratification!  Also true of the jalapeno.  The squash blossoms are the males which fall off so the females can make fruit and I am going to eat them in my salad tonite!
Oh my . . that sounds awful!!

It rained today . .  a lovely soft & steady rain . .   and my garden is smiling!

Kitchen Garden , I Can't Help Myself . . . .

Once the Kitchen Garden was built, I thought "Hmmm . . . we need a nice stone pathway to connect the garden to the house".
My son came once again for a couple days of HARD work! At first when you are picking out great stones and loading them onto a trailer it doesn't seem so bad . . . but once you are unloading them and setting them into dense rocky ground you wonder whose silly idea THAT was.
Placing the stones was quite like putting together a puzzle, but one that has lots of combinations. My husband is good at Puzzles ! Our challenge was that our last deck step has always been a bit high so we had to work this on a little slope to make a more pleasing step from the deck to the walk. The worst part was digging up nasty dense sod and setting the stones in as level as possible. Of course we picked the 2 hottest days of the week . . 85 degrees! Lots of water for all three of us!!
The stones are in a limestone sand base that wil eventually turn concrete like . . I hope! Then topped with pea gravel which will settle in too.
Day 2 Eddie and I went to a great garden center to purchase all varieties of low growing tyme and irish moss to plant in between the stones. This will fill in eventually and can be walked upon too. Of course I still need more tyme . . . Doesn't everyone?
So . . . maybe this weekend I will head out to find more tyme . . . we will be edgin the whole path with "stepables" like tyme and moss so that the edges finally are obscured with the lawn.
For today . . . Back to work!!! I need to finish my pieces for "The Best We Can Do " web show tomorrow!!!

Enjoy,
Lori Ann
